THE CAROUSEL OF HAPPINESS - RESTORED 1910 LOOFF story began when Scott Harrison was a 19-year-old Marine Gunner serving in Vietnam. The gift of a music box, the image of a carousel in a mountain meadow calmed Scott; and, many years later, after rescuing an abandoned carousel, he began carving what would become a whimsical menagerie. It took him a little over 26 years to hand-carve the 56, whimsical, unique animals; from a moose to a pig, from a dragon to a mermaid.

DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS bring the carousel to life in our little mountain town of Nederland, west of Boulder; and visited by thousands of people every month. The Carousel of Happiness is a non-profit giving away thousands of rides every year to people who benefit from a place to find a moment of peace and happiness.

PROUD TO BE ACCESSIBLE: We have a wheelchair ramp and step stools; our staff is walker-friendly. The carousel has several stationary benches and easy-to-ride seats.

HOURS OPEN BY MONTH for Carousel of Happiness - Restored 1910 Looff

MAY THROUGH SEPTEMBER: Monday-Thursday 11am-5pm; and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10am-5pm.

OCTOBER THROUGH APRIL: Open Mondays and Thursdays 11am-5pm; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10am-5pm, and Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

HOLIDAY HOURS: Check the website above for hours our Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, and Winter Break hours as they vary. Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

RIDES TICKETS: $3 for everyone from one to 110 years old, children under 1 ride free.

CELEBRATE with US - RENT THE CAROUSEL OF HAPPINESS

RENT THE CAROUSEL OF HAPPINESS: Rent the entire Carousel outside of our regular business hours. You the bring food and drinks for the celebration. CAROUSEL RENTAL: $500 for 2 hours; Deposit: $250 holds the date. INCLUDES: Unlimited rides.

CAROUSEL PARTY ROOM and PUPPET THEATRE RENTAL: During regular hours rent our party room and puppet theater. You bring the cake; we provide the ride tickets! PARTY ROOM RENTAL: $75/hour; Deposit: $25 holds the date. INCLUDES: 10 tickets per hour and a Birthday Banner (or see our Member's Party Package for a great deal)! PUPPET THEATRE RENTAL: $40/hr; Deposit: $25 holds the date.

LOCATION: Carousel of Happiness a Restored 1910 Looff is in north central Colorado, along the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, in Nederland Colorado between Estes Park and Idaho Springs.

DIRECTIONS: From Boulder take Colorado Highway 119 (Boulder Canyon Drive) into Nederland; the Carousel is just off Highway 119 at 20 Lakeview Drive, right beside the Train Cars Coffee Shop.

DRIVE TIMES: Boulder 30 minutes. Idaho Springs 45 minutes. Estes Park, Lyons, Longmont, and Denver are all about an hour.
