Burro Days Celebrates Fairplay's Mining Past

BURRO DAYS is always held during the last full weekend in July. The 75th Annual Burro Days will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 26-28, 2024.

Back in the day when mountain men ruled and gold was King, the pack burro was the prospector's best friend. Rough and tough Americans sought their fortunes in the Rocky Mountains with a trusted burro at their side. These sturdy little animals carried tools and provisions.

BURRO DAYS is a three-day event that attracts over 10,000 people to Fairplay, Colorado. The weekend is packed with parades, llama, burro and pack dog races as well as outhouse races, music, dancing, vendor booths, BBQ, pancake breakfast and Cowboy Church Services.

THE REAL ATTRACTION IS THE BURRO RACE HELD ON SUNDAY.
