Winter Ice Fishing | Lake Fishing Trout and Salmon
A First Class Experience You'll Never Forget!
No need to bring any fishing gear!
Blue Mesa Reservoir is Colorado's largest body of water and home to Colorado's largest population of Kokanee "land locked" Salmon.
We provide Trolling and Jigging for Kokanee Salmon, trophy brown trout, trophy rainbow trout, and Lake Trout. In winter we offer Guided Ice Fishing trips. Why wait a lifetime to catch your trophy fish when Blue Mesa Fishing Guides can help you today.
REMEMBER TO BRING: Sun block, a light lunch, a fishing license for anyone 16 and older and beverages (cold or hot depending on the season). The boat will have a cooler. Blue Mesa weather can be rainy and warm, or cold in the morning and hotter than a smoked kokanee in the afternoon.
WINTER ICE FISHING -- Mid-December to Late-March
ICE FISHING: Full or 1/2 day trips offered (Mid-December to Late-March; snowmobiles included). It's cold outside, but the bite can be red hot with fish swimming right under your feet inside our warm huts with heaters! Sometimes we will simply walk to the fishing grounds and other times we will take snowmobiles out to distant hot spots. We use fish finders to find and stay on the bite! We offer action or trophy trips through the ice.
LAKE FISHING -- TROUT and SALMON
KOKANEE JIGGING: Full day of 6 hours or 1/2 day of 3 hours (August 1st to Mid-September). This is the most sought after fishing window of the year! We use our electronics to hunt down huge schools of kokanee salmon and then vertically jig for them at depths of 50-100'!
LAKE TROUT FISHING: Full day of 6 hours (April to Mid-May). This is a trophy fishing trip focused on quality, not quantity, but the reward can be a fish of a life-time! Blue Mesa has been the home of the state record for over 14 years and grows lake trout to trophy sizes a lot faster than most lakes due to the amount of food in the lake. You will have a chance to land a trophy, be videoed and photographed with a fish of your lifetime. Generally caught on these trips are native Colorado Lake Trout 30" or bigger with some going 40"+!
KOKANEE TROLLING & MIXED BAG: Full day of 6 hours or 1/2 day of 3 hours (April through October). This is a laid back trip great for all ages and experience levels! Depending on the time of year, we catch a mix of Kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, brown trout, and smaller lake trout. Limits are common on years of good numbers!
