The Tread of Pioneers Museum housed in a 1908 Queen Anne-style Victorian home and features turn-of-the-century furnishings. On display are various ranching, mining and pioneer life artifacts, history of skiing exhibit, and a Native American arts display. Our Western room has an extensive firearms collection and the story of an infamous outlaw, Harry Tracy.

Special museum features are a local history research library, gift store and an historic photograph collection.

Historic and Cultural Tours are presented around the town of Steamboat Springs.

FREE Weekly Heritage Walking Tours -- 4 days per week! All Partner Heritage Tours are brought to you by the Tread of Pioneers Museum, Historic Routt County, and Yampatika. All tour participants will receive a coupon for $1 off admission to the Tread of Pioneers Museum.

MINERAL SPRINGS WALKING TOUR: FREE EVERY TUESDAY From June 30-September 1, 9 - 10:30 am. Starts at the Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at the Depot on 13th Street. Join a Yampatika naturalist on this easy walking tour to learn our area mineral Springs.

OLYMPIC HERITAGE WALKING TOUR: FREE EVERY WEDNESDAY From July 1-September 2, 9 - 10:30 am. Starts at Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill, 845 Howelsen Parkway. This easy walking tour explores our Olympic heritage including. Once at Howelsen Hill, participants will witness the daring feats of ski jumpers. All tour participants will FREE ticket for the Howelsen Hill chairlift.

DOWNTOWN HISTORIC WALKING TOUR: FREE EVERY THURSDAY From July 2-September 3, 9 - 10:30 am. Starts at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. The focus of this easy walking tour is the historic buildings and architecture of downtown and the early settlers.

BROWN BAG LECTURE SERIES: FREE EVERY FRIDAY From July 3 - September 4, Noon - 1 pm. At the Tread of Pioneers Museum. Discover the history of Steamboat Springs through the locals who lived it. Topics have included the mining town of Mount Harris, local outlaw stories, agricultural history and local family histories.

The Tread of Pioneers Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11am-5pm.
