Sable Mountain Outfitters strives to provide you with an unforgettable experience in our Marvine Lake fishing camp located in the Flat Top Wilderness. Anglers will enjoy fishing for Rainbow, Brook and Cut-throat trout in the famous Marvine Lakes, Pine Isle Lake or Marvine Creek which provides beautiful stream fishing.

You'll enjoy the magnificent scenery on the two hour horseback ride to our fully furnished Marvine Lake camp. Our camp is complete with wall tent, cook stove, cooking and eating utensils, tables, chairs, cots, and lanterns. Beyond fishing the high country lakes and streams, our Marvine Lake Camp offers an unlimited outdoor adventure. Take breathtaking photographs of gorgeous mountain scenery and wildlife, enjoy a long leisurely nature hike, explore mountain trails on horseback, read a good book or just relax in the shade of the fragrant pine and Aspen trees.

Choose from the following two options which are available June through September:

Full Service Camp - Includes fully equipped camp, home cooked meals prepared by our camp cook, use of our boats on the lake, and horses. We will prepare meals and tend to the horses and the camp chores so all you have to do is relax and enjoy your vacation. You supply only your personal and fishing gear and sleeping bag.

Drop Camp - Includes fully equipped camp, pack in and pack out. For those who want to get away on their own. You supply your food, personal and fishing gear and sleeping bag and we'll pack you and your gear into our furnished camp and return to pick you up on a prearranged date. Boat rental is available for an additional fee.

Pack Trips

A guided horseback trip across the Flat Tops Wilderness for the adventurous at heart. We'll stay in a new camp every night as we make our way across the Flat Tops on sound mountain horses with our gear carefully packed on our pack string. If you love to fish, bring your fishing gear as there are numerous streams, ponds and lakes to fish along the way. All you bring is your personal gear and sleeping bag, we'll supply the rest. The guides will set up camp each day, prepare meals, and tend to the horses so you can enjoy your wilderness experience. These Wilderness Pack Trips are only available late June or early July through August.

Trail Rides

Horseback riding is the best way to experience the majestic Rocky Mountains. The spectacular White River National Forest and Flat Tops Wilderness areas are accessed by numerous trailheads making each trail ride unique. If you're quiet, you may have the opportunity to see wildlife, such as mule deer, elk, coyotes or maybe even a bear.

Fall trail rides are a favorite. The mountain air is crisp and cool and the Aspen trees provide stunning views with their brilliant shades of golden yellow, orange and red interlaced in the evergreens.

We will provide an experienced guide to accompany you as you explore the high mountain trails to provide personal attention, instruction, and knowledge of the area to ensure that you enjoy your back country adventure.

Our dependable, sure-footed, mountain horses are individually trained for your riding pleasure so you can relax and enjoy the breathtaking views from the saddle. Whether you prefer a gentle, kid-safe mount or a spirited horse for the experienced rider, we do our best to ensure that horse and rider are compatible for a safe and enjoyable ride.
