Mountain Whitewater Descents888-855-8874
Brad Modesitt and his brother Kent canoed in 1993 down the Poudre, Platte, Missouri, and Mississippi Rivers to end up 2400 miles later in New Orleans. This experience left both of them with a deep respect for our Nation's rivers. Kent is an attorney whose major interest is environmental protection. Brad is still guiding rafts down the river he loves. Conveniently located only about 80 minutes from Denver and Estes Park, the Poudre offers some of the closest, most exciting, and still somewhat unknown, whitewater rafting in the state. The river starts in the snow capped peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, then twists, turns, and tumbles through cliffs and rock spires. It's almost continuous rapids keep your adrenaline flowing, and the chances to see eagles, deer, black bear, and big horn sheep will keep your eyes open. OUR GUIDES MAKE THE DIFFERENCE! While the river is a vital part of your river trip, your guide makes the experience even more outstanding. We have some of the most experienced whitewater guides on the Poudre. Many started on this river and have since guided a wide array of other rivers. Most of our guides are college graduates with degrees like; Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, and Forest Ecology. During the winter some are ski patrollers and teachers. Each year we tap into the resources of Colorado State University (CSU) and hold classes with our guides to further educate them on birds, wildlife, plants, and the rich history of the region. In along with First Aid and CPR, all our guides are required to have current Swiftwater Rescue certifications. 'Swiftwater' is an intense three-day course that teaches whitewater rescue techniques. Guides also have incentives to further their medical and technical experience. Our Facility is SPECTACULAR!! Have your group play in our park! From the Hot tub to a professional grade sand volleyball pit to an instructional kayak rolling pond to an interpretive nature walk to a 9-hole frisbee golf course to an amphitheater with warming fire pit to two horseshoe pits to birding along the Little Cache La Poudre River to a basketball court to bocce to BBQ to a bon fire pit to fountains to relaxing benches.....We have it all with beautiful views of the Fort Collins, Colorado foothills. What's NEW!! The rains and snow-pack have made the river wonderful. Great rapids have made for great photos and huge smiles from all the rafters. We just purchased the adjoining 38 acres to our previous 5 acres. We now plan to build cabins and a team-build rope course. Things are expanding and improving daily here because of all our returning guests. Come see why the Poudre is considered world class whitewater. Not only are we the closest rafting to Estes Park, Denver, and Fort Collins -- we are the BEST!!! 1329 North Highway 287, Fort Collins Colorado 80524; 888-855-8874; 970-419-0917.
