Castle Mountain Recreation at Wellington Lake303-838-5496
The campground is a privately owned natural wilderness area, at a cool 8,300 foot elevation, offering both tenting and RVing off the beaten path, just eleven miles southeast of Bailey. With 150 campsites in the mountain forest, along the lake and group areas campers can enjoy the ease of having all the recreation at your front door: hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing, and paddle boating. These sites have no hookups, so RVers should expect to be self contained and tenters should bring water. There is potable water on siteÊand bathroom facilities along with a trading post. Dogs are welcome, call for additional information. The fishing here is excellent, as the lake is stocked with a variety of trout, including rainbows, cutbows, cutthroats, browns and brookies. A state fishing license is not required, however a per/day fee per person is charged for guests. If you want to picnic or spend the day, there is a day use fee. You can bring your own boats keeping in mind it is a 'wakeless' lake, to maintain a peaceful environment. The Wellington Trading Post has a good variety of necessities including fishing supplies, canned goods, firewood, etc. And if the fish didn't bite, try their fresh cooked turkey legs. Its more like a convenience store with gift items, and canoes and paddle boat rents. Wellington Trading Post is a separate establishment and is not affiliated with Castle Mountain Recreation or Wellington Recreation Company. Wellington Lake is an ideal location if you looking for a short drive from Denver, that avoids I-70. You might see deer, elk, fox, or even a raccoon. Please note that all pets must have current rabies tags, thank you. 21843 Stoney Pass, Bailey Colorado 80421; 303-838-5496. CAMPINGCamping Open Dates: All YearRATESAdditional Person Rate: Adult: $6.
